A superb 6-minute video here from the BBC technology team which analyses and evaluates the likely success of Nokia’s product and market strategy in mobile phones.  Lots of details about mobile phone segments and operating platforms / ecosytems, but explained in a way that should certainly be accessible for students.  I have also added a recent video interview with Nokia CEO Stephen Elop in which he explains his strategy further.

Nokia’s rescue plan - is it enough?

Nokia once dominated the mobile market but this year, for the first time, it has been overtaken by Samsung and could struggle further as more users look to upgrade to a smartphone.

Stephen Elop on Nokia’s mobile prospects

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17180428

A 41-megapixel Nokia smartphone was among the new technology on show during the opening day of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The chief executive of Nokia, Stephen Elop told the BBC’s Rory Cellan-Jones that the 808 Pureview is “the world’s best camera-phone”.

He also defended Nokia’s continued use of the Symbian operating system, after the company had previously said it would abandon it completely for Windows Phone software.
