Lesson video - a day in the life of a supermarket
Ok. Once you get over the glossy, corporate feel, this five minute video would make a perfect starter for a lesson that uses the grocery supermarkets as a stimulus for discussion…
The video takes a look behind the scenes of a Sainsbury’s supermarket. Some good material here on how online shopping is organised by Sainsbury’s, the role and importance of staff training etc.
It paints a very rosy picture of the ideal Sainsbury’s store - which might not match everyone’s experience. The Sainsbury’s cafe seems particularly modern and attractive - a world away from the miserable customer service I experience whenever I stop off for a cuppa at my local Sainsbury’s in North Leeds.
But show it to your students and get their reaction - how many business studies concepts can they identify?
Join Jim Riley and the tutor2u BUSS4 team for an intensive day designed to prepare students for the challenges of BUSS4 in June 2015. Each of the five workshop sessions introduces and builds effective essay planning and writing technique. We do this in the context of looking at both Manufacturing in the UK (Section A) and core topics for Section B including leadership, change management, technology, strategic choice and globalisation.
